TARKIB - Baghdad Independent Arts Festival connects audiences to the city's contemporary emerging and independent arts.

The vision of the festival is to highlight and connect local artists from the young generation, while being a catalyst for new and experimental art practice.

Its focus is directed to artworks that form a boundary between art and everyday life, explore new socio-cultural spaces and work interdisciplinary.

TARKIB’s focal point is a group exhibition with installation artworks of 18 young Iraqi artists. Works presented show a strong influence by an aesthetic of resistance. They capture very current developments, but interpret them positively and give visions for the future.

TARKIB features a programme of films, a dramatic reading with Maestro Karim Wasfi and Saad Majeed from the book of poem MALAK and the installation dance performance MOOD by Bassem Al Tayeb.
